1Who we are

SlimFit ("SlimFit," "we," "us," "our") is a mobile fitness and nutrition app for iOS and Android, built by SlimFit Formula for everyday people in Tanzania and East Africa. This policy explains what information SlimFit collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. It covers the SlimFit app and the home-screen widgets that come with it.

Questions about this policy or your data go to alexandertillya01@gmail.com.

2At a glance

  • We collect what you log yourself (food, water, weight, workouts) and what your phone's sensors report — steps, and GPS only while you're actively tracking a walk or run.
  • We use Firebase (Google) to run the app — sign-in, database, notifications, and an optional AI coach.
  • Phone verification codes, and a daily summary text if you turn it on, go through Textify, our SMS delivery partner.
  • No ads, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and we don't sell your data.
  • Delete your account and everything in it anytime, from Profile → Delete account.

3Information we collect

3.1 Account information

When you create a SlimFit account, we collect your name; an email address and/or phone number, depending on how you sign in; and, if you use "Sign in with Google," the basic profile information Google shares with us (name, email address). Passwords are handled entirely by Firebase Authentication — SlimFit never sees or stores your password in plain text.

Phone sign-in uses a one-time code sent by SMS through our delivery partner, Textify (see §5).

3.2 Health & fitness profile

To personalize your targets, we ask for your age range (including whether you're under 18, so we can apply extra safeguards — see §8), gender, height and weight, activity level, and, if you set one, a weight-loss goal amount and target number of days.

3.3 Activity & health data you generate

As you use the app, we store your daily step counts, read from your phone's motion sensor; water intake you log; food and meal entries, including the calories we estimate for them; your BMI history, calculated from the height and weight you provide; which workouts you've completed and how long a session ran; and summaries of walks and runs you track — distance, duration, and estimated calories burned.

3.4 Location data

When you start a walk or run in the Route Tracker, SlimFit uses your phone's precise GPS location to draw your route on the map and calculate distance — including briefly in the background if you lock your phone or switch apps mid-session, so the walk keeps recording. We only request location, and only collect it, while a tracking session is active; SlimFit does not track your location at any other time. The route itself is processed on your device — what's saved to your account is the resulting summary (distance, duration, calories, date), not a stored trail of GPS coordinates.

3.5 Communications

If you enable phone verification or the optional daily summary text, we use your phone number to send one-time verification codes and, if turned on, a once-daily text with your calories and steps for the day — both delivered through Textify (§5). For push notifications (hydration, inactivity, and workout reminders), we use Firebase Cloud Messaging; these are scheduled locally or by topic and don't require us to store a message history tied to you.

3.6 What we don't collect

SlimFit does not access your camera or photo library — there is no photo upload feature in the app. We don't integrate any advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs, so we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't build an advertising profile from your activity.

4How we use your information

We use the information above to run the app's core features (step, water, food, BMI, and workout tracking, and the progress shown on your dashboard and home-screen widgets); calculate personalized targets (calorie budget, step goal); generate the optional AI coach recommendation (§4.1); verify your identity at sign-in and secure your account; send the reminders and summaries you've opted into; and maintain and improve the app.

4.1 AI-generated recommendations

SlimFit includes an optional "SlimFit Coach" feature that gives you one short, personalized suggestion. To generate it, we send your stated goal, food intake, calorie target, steps, step target, and the names of meals you've logged to Google's Gemini AI model, through Firebase AI Logic. The coach is instructed not to diagnose, prescribe, or suggest calorie intake below your target, and to point toward professional care for anything that sounds like a medical concern — but it is not a doctor, dietitian, or emergency service, and its output should be treated as general guidance, not medical advice. See our Terms & Conditions, §4, for the full disclaimer.

5Who we share information with

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers. We do share it with the following, strictly to provide the app's features:

  • Firebase and Google Cloud (Google LLC) — our infrastructure for authentication, our database (Cloud Firestore), push notifications, cloud functions, and the Gemini AI model behind the coach feature. Google processes this data on our behalf, under its own security and privacy commitments as our infrastructure provider.
  • Textify — our SMS delivery partner in Tanzania. When you request a verification code, or if you enable the daily summary text, we send your phone number and the message content to Textify solely to deliver that message.
  • Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your basic profile information with us as part of that sign-in, under Google's own terms.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect SlimFit's rights or the safety of our users, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we'd tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

6How long we keep your information

We keep your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. If you stop using SlimFit without deleting your account, your data stays as-is — we don't currently auto-delete inactive accounts, but we may introduce a retention policy for long-inactive accounts in the future and will update this policy if we do.

7Your choices, and deleting your account

You can review and update your profile anytime from the Profile tab. Reminders (water, inactivity, daily summary SMS) can be turned off individually from the same screen. You can revoke motion/fitness or location permission at any time from your device's system settings — SlimFit's step and route tracking will simply stop working until you re-enable it.

You can permanently delete your account from Profile → Delete account. This immediately and irreversibly removes your profile, step and hydration history, food log, workouts, BMI history, and walk/run sessions from our systems, and signs you out. There is no way to undo this, and we cannot recover a deleted account.

If you'd rather ask us to do it, email alexandertillya01@gmail.com from the address or phone number on your account.

8Children and users under 18

SlimFit is not directed at children under 13, and we ask that you not use it if you're under 13. Teenagers between 13 and 18 can use the app, with extra safeguards: our onboarding flags accounts in this age range, weight-loss goals and calorie-deficit targets are disabled, and the AI coach is instructed to give only balanced, non-restrictive guidance and to recommend a trusted adult or professional for anything sensitive. We encourage parents and guardians to be involved in how a teenager uses any health-tracking app.

9Security

We rely on Firebase's security infrastructure — encrypted connections between the app and our servers, and access-controlled cloud storage — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we don't do anything with your data beyond what's described in this policy.

10International data transfers

Firebase and Google Cloud may process and store your information on servers located outside Tanzania. By using SlimFit, you understand your information may be transferred to, and processed in, other countries whose data protection laws may differ from your own.

11Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, object to certain processing, or ask for a copy of your data. Tanzanian users have these rights under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022. To exercise any of these, contact us at alexandertillya01@gmail.com — for deletion specifically, the fastest path is Profile → Delete account in the app itself.

12Changes to this policy

We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we change this policy, and post the revised version at this same page. For material changes — for example, starting to share data with a new kind of partner — we'll also let you know in the app.
